About David Rees BEng
I have been a railway modeler and enthusiast as far back as I can remember. It was this interest that lead me into a career in mechanical engineering and I obtained a bachelors degree from the University of Bradford. I volunteered at the Keighley and Worth Valley railway, in their locomotive department, where I have been a member of the City of Wells overhaul team as much as time permits. My first employment was at the famous Israel Newton & Sons boiler makers in Bradford where I spent just over two years making and repairing steam engine boilers. Following my time at Newtons, I moved north to be employed at GNS in Darlington as a design engineer, where I gained more valuable experience designing miniature locomotives and traction engines. After the sudden demise of GNS I moved into a design engineer role in the gas and oil industry. However my enthusiasm for railways is as strong as ever. I'm curruntly building an extensive model railway layout 'Euton' and building a 5" gauge BR 3F Jinty locomotive.
About DJR M&D
The idea for starting up a business came by accident really. I wanted to try out 3D printing, so I jumped in at the deep end and modeled a North Eastern railway snow plough as it offered a challenging shape. The plough created so much interest that it seemed a shame to keep it to myself. Therefore DJR models and Engineering design was born. I have had experience working with steam engines of all sizes, from models to the real thing, with plenty of design experience. I can also offer a mechanical design service.
